Adam Mao

Adam Mao is a San Jose native who grew up loving cars and started working on them when he was only 13 years old. Cars has been a big part of Adams life because of his brother who was in the car scene in the early 90’s and 2000’s.
He started working on his first car in his backyard, from simple oil changes to engine swaps. His first build was a Sr20det into his S14 when he was 14 years old. He loved to work on cars so much that he eventually made an auto shop in Fremont California called Dynamic Auto Works.

Ralph Navarro is one of Adams great friends and works with Adam at Dynamic Auto Works. He has known Adam since they were 19, they worked at a Performance Auto Care together and at Car Bar. One day, Adam told him that he wanted to start his a shop. They were trying to come up with a name and they came up with the name Dynamic Auto Works and they never changed it since. They all did their best and everyone helped put up the shop together.

He is currently working on a 1998 Toyota Chaser JZX100. He’s been working on it for about 2 years now and I have to say, is one of the dopest builds I’ve seen. From the detail of fabrication work and to the drink holder. Adam got inspired to build one of these Chasers after seeing it at D1 Grad Prix in Irwindale speedway in 2004.

The chassis is a 1998 Toyota Chaser with an original 1JZ vvdi head and a 2JZ Lower End. He is currently mocking up his build for a wide body front and rear. The car will be mainly built for drifting and will be showing at a few car shows to show the type of work his shop and team can provide. The interior is pretty straight forward he says, but he is being humble. He built the cage around the 4 bucket seats to be able to seat 4 passengers while drifting. He plans to bring it to 2019 SEMA and 2019 Winter Jam.

I asked him what his advice is for people who are just starting on their builds and car enthusiasts.

“To start a project, you always have to have a plan. Remember to build the car for yourself and not for other peoples interest. Lastly, never be cheap when buying quality car parts.”

Adam has helped a lot of people in the car community including us. When ARTire was re-building after the incident that our mobile service got stolen, he reached out to us to us and asked if we would like to have a section in his shop. He helped us so much and for that Adam, we appreciate you more than words can say.

Much love Adam
